SEC Win

Well, today's football game will give the first SEC win to one of the teams (hope its mine). Today's game is between MSU BullDawgs and Kentucky Wildcats - GO DAWGS!!!! Both teams are sportin losin records and neither have won an SEC game yet this year. My team has 3 games to go in the season and all are SEC. After today we have Alabama, a week off, Arkansas (at Ark), then Thanksgiving weekend we play the Egg Bowl with old Miss. The Egg Bowl isn't really a bowl game, its just the game against our main rival to the north of us. As they say, the first sign of intelligence in Oxford (ole miss) is the road sign that says Starkville (MSU) 95 mi. :)

I'm in tv heaven *spoiler*

Walker Texas Ranger returned tonight in a 2 hour movie bringing together most of the original cast of the original series! This movie showed Walker and Gage up against Koreans trying to retrieve a missile guidance system that has fallen into the hands of a 13 year old. Trevette is off teaching CIA recruits, so his appearance in the movie is all of 2 minutes. Syd is totally not in the picture and Alex is in it off and on. Speaking of Alex, Is she dead?? I mean, cliffhangers in the tv series is one thing but to do it in a movie??? I sure hope the rumours are true and that there is at least going to be another movie to tell us whether Alex dies and leaves Walker to be a widower with a child or whether she lives to tell the tale (another quarter inch and I'd be a goner). Their daughter was in the movie about 5 min and then wasn't shown again. This movie was great but is it just me or is Walker starting to show his age a bit? He gets his butt kicked and actually uses his gun on a couple of occassions to shoot a bad guy rather then beat him to a pulp - guess we have to cut him some slack, he is 65 years old, after all.... The other rumour on the net is that they are considering bringing the series back to the tv screen - I say WE WANT WALKER!!!

Hold on wait a minute gotta put some Dawg in it??

Don't know about that - I think the game against Fla in the Swamp this past weekend had more heart in it then Dawg! My poor Dawgs have lost yet again to their third ranked opponent this year and thankfully, we finally get a week off! The score this week was 35-9. This game started off as a tennis match as we intercepted a pass and then 2 plays later, they intercepted it right back. We were both tied in the first quarter 3 all. And then it started. Who out there has ever heard of a game having 2 safeties and a blocked punt?? Well, you have now. MSU got hit with 2 safeties and a blocked punt AND our quarterback (Omarr Connor) went out in the 2nd quarter with a bruised sternum! I think after the first safety, all momentum went to Fla and stayed there the rest of the game. While we played a bad game, we stuck in there and kept pluggin away - playin with heart more then skill. I think the best play of the game for the Dawgs came in the 4th quarter when Jerious Norwood was able to wiggle his way 76 yards for our only touchdown of the game! And talk about an observant coach! Croom caught a missed call in the 2nd quarter and challenged it and won! The call was this - a Fla player was knocked out on the 1 yard line and Fla retained the ball BUT as he was knocked out, the ball came loose and hit the pylon meaning MSU got the ball!
Well, like I said, next week we have the week off and then we have homcoming against Houston. I hope we can win that game so maybe the guys will get a little more confidence. Our schedule doesn't get any easier - we still have Alabama (undefeated), Arkansas, Kentucky, and old miss to play.

sad times in Dawgville

Well durn it!! My Dawgs just continue to slide backwards - they take a step forward and show promise and then they take 3 steps back and show lack of discipline. I'll be very very glad when the players finally decide what they truly want! We lost to LSU big time - 37-7! This was not a close game, not like the Ga game. And guess what?? It only gets worse! We go to the Swamp this weekend and take on the Fla Gators and they are extremely hungry for revenge - we beat them last year here at home.... What's up with the NCAA - are they out for our blood?? I mean, c'mon folks - 3 top 10 teams back to back, what else can that mean??? :) I'm just glad the Jerious Norwood and Omarr Conner weren't hurt seriously in the last game and that they're injuries were minor cause we sure need those guys healthy.
GGOOOOOOOOOOOO STATE GO!!!

what a weekend!

Well, my beloved Dawgs lost to Ga BUT it was a good game, their best game thus far! The score shows it this time - 23-10 (oh yeah, Ga is ranked 5th or 6th in the nation so I reckon we hung with them pretty good). LSU comes knocking on our door this coming weekend so I hope our good playing continues and improves. I think in the next year or so we'll be really good - right now we are just so young and inexperienced!
Well today was eventful, what's left of Hurricane Rita came marching thru here spawning tornados all over the place. This afternoon, nearly every 45 min or so the sirens would go off alerting residents to possible tornados. One actually touched down and did some damage on the campus of MSU.
Well, I'm off to bed - hope I don't get blown away!! :)

Rita

well, it looks like a co-worker and I were predicting correctly. In my last post I mentioned that Rita was heading in the direction of Galveston/Houston - I didn't believe that that was where it would hit but that's what the 'experts' were saying. My friend and I predicted that it would hit along the Tx-La state line and guess what? that's the area its heading now. It will be a terrible thing to hit anywhere but at least perhaps it won't be so bad for such a huge city like Houston since they are likely to know be on the 'clean' side of the hurricane. However, poor New Orleans is on the 'dirty' side of the hurricane and depending on where it actually makes landfall, could have massive amounts of wind and rain or just a lot of rain (hopefully not more then 6 inches or the levees might flood the entire city, including areas not flooded before).
As if the storm weren't bad enough, the roads leaving Houston are backed up so far.... Here's what 1 person said about this "This is the worst planning I've ever seen," said Judie Anderson, who covered just 45 miles in 12 hours after setting out from her home in the Houston suburb of LaPorte. "They say we've learned a lot from Hurricane Katrina. Well, you couldn't prove it by me." I can't imagine going just 45 miles in 12 hours - WoW!!! That's slow movement!

3rd strongest

Oh My!! Hurricane Rita has just become the 3rd strongest storm ever in the Atlantic Ocean, at 898 mb. It has now passed Katrina by on this list but still, think about this, we've now seen 2 of the strongest hurricanes ever in just under a month!! And folks, we still have just over 2 months to go for the current hurricane season! At this point, it looks like Rita will hit Tx in the Galveston/Houston area but its still to early to know 100% for sure that that's where it will hit. What do you think - would it be better if it hit the recently hit coasts where there's not much left to damage or should it hit some other area (ie Galveston)? I know, we can't control where it would hit - just wonder about the opinions out there!

Please Please donate to the Red Cross, they will need more support now with Rita out there!!

storms

Can you believe it?? Another storm is heading to the Gulf Coast region and could be a hurricane! Right now it looks like it will hit Texas but also in the predictions is La. - Yikes! As if Katrina wasn't enough, now they have to watch Rita!

Please donate to the American Red Cross today!

Tulane

Well, as I said earlier, the football game with Tulane was a tough one. Neither team scored until the 3rd quarter. My Dawgs then scored 14 points! Tulane would soon answer back and a battle ensued. My Dawgs came out on top and won the game 21-14! Tulane played very, very well considering their circumstances. They have had to practice on high school fields and haven't had the chance to scrimmage a whole lot. They have nothing to be ashamed of at all! GO GREEN WAVES!!! I hope you do very well the rest of your season!

computer

Ok, I'm working on building a computer (first one in awhile) and am quite shocked at what I found on the inside - they are now color coding cables. Well, at least the cable for the primary IDE - as if I didn't know where on the mother board it went, its now color coded to help jog my memory! Wow! What's next? Color coded memory chips? Or how about each power cord colored to go only and I mean only on the correct color on the corresponding drive/etc - so, that we'll be up the creek without a paddle if we don't buy all our parts at the same time so that they are color co-ordinated! :)

don't forget to donate to the Red Cross and help out the Hurricane Katrina victims!

football 2

Well, my Dawgs didn't do so well against Auburn. As a matter of fact, I think they forgot to take the team with them to Auburn and just randomly picked some fans out of the stands to play. Well, maybe things weren't quite that bad but still, they were close enough. Read in the paper today that Coach Croom was so upset over the penalties, that in order to encourage less penalties, he's going to start limiting game time in some form for those who committ the penalty. I guess this will be one way to wake them up and get them out of the rut they've dug themselves into.
Our game this weekend will be the toughest one all season - its against Tulane and we all know what they've suffered. I can't imagine the emotions going into that game! Those Tulane players are going to be quite aggressive and they will have somewhat of a home-field advantage. The game will be played in Shreveport rather then the usual location of the Super Dome. There are many displaced people from New Orleans located in Shreveport who will be at this game.
Go Dawgs!

aunt

Well, my new little niece recently turned 2 months old! Its hard to imagine me as an aunt but I am! :) Here's some pics of the little tyke and some of her relatives - Naomi

football

Well, here it is 2 days before the start of the MSU BullDawgs football season and I should be excited, right?? I can't help but think about all the college football players whose families have been thru vicious Katrina this past week and how we expect them to get out on the field and give 110% for our enjoyment. If it were up to me, I'd postpone football season by at least 2 weeks to give these students a chance to make sure their families are safe and settled somewhat until such time that they can go home again and begin rebuilding. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge football fan, especially of my hometown Ms State Bulldogs and I'll be out there cheering them on but I think this would have been the right thing to do. Sadly, its not up to me! :)

Please contact your local Red Cross office and donate money to help out the Hurricane Victims!

New Website

Working now on a brand new website, doing the research for it as I type (well, thinking about what else I should add to it while I type this). It won't be a WWII site this time although that's not totally out of the realm of possibility - maybe I'll put that up on a free website host like Geocities. It'll be about one of my highest passions - planes and jets. I guess the bug first hit me when I was born as I was born on the Columbus Air Force Base in Ms. I've always enjoyed planes and such but sadly, have never flown except for a ride in a Huey at an air show a couple of years ago. That was an awesome ride!! Anyway, I'll post the link to my site here once its done. Let me know if you have any ideas of planes I should add to the site - I will consider all suggestions!

Lazy Bones

I've become the world's laziest person online, thanks in part to a wireless network I've set up in my home. I can now surf the web (limited) and check email anywhere in my house with my Dell Axim. I don't surf a lot since I haven't yet loaded a virus program on there to keep out pesky viruses. My friends all think I'm nuts - I think I'm nuts but I'm having fun! :)
Another new toy I got is an AudioVox 8615 cell phone - I've been downloading ringtones to it and enjoying the color screen and lightweight.

Starting over

I deleted all my old postings as most of them are useless now. I'd love to hear from anyone who visits this blog and how they got to it. I was reading today that Prince Charles is marrying Bowles - I think he should have done that to begin with and not ever married Diana. He didn't love her, not really, but was forced into that marriage. Hopefully, he'll stayed married this time and not find someone new to wreck this marriage.
Does anyone out there use the Dell Axim X30? Its a great handheld and I was wondering if you knew of some cool games that are free or cheap to add to it. Drop me a line and let me know!

Me

Well, I'll tell you a bit about me here. I live in Ms. and was born at the Columbus Air Force Base in 1973. I work in the Starkville Public Library. I have a black belt in TaeKwonDo and a brown belt in JuJitSu with the
Starkville Martial Arts Academy (http://www.starkvillemartialarts.com). I really enjoy martial arts: its lots of fun and great exercise. I also enjoy reading and computer. Some of my favorite authors are: Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, John Grisham, Greg Iles, Bodie Thoene, among many others.... I just read a really good childrens/young adult book called Inkheart - very good, its about a bookbinder who can read characters out of book and his adventures. I love surfing the net and playing computer games - my brother and sister-in-law are living with me for the summer and I'm hooked on playing Quake over the network with them.
